surreptitiously holding in your tummy, would be the PERFECT time to take a knee and hand you that velvet covered box. You know the box...the one that contains the symbol of promise and love and Happily Ever After?

OK, ladies stop reading now and hand the computer over to your honey...

Gentlemen, turn off the PS3, the XBox, and put down the remote! Focus! So you are thinking of proposing and you know you have to start with the ring (well technically you have to start with the girl, but you get the point). There are several things you need to know before investing in a diamond. Known as the the 4 C's of diamonds, you'll need to bear in mind the following:

Cut: which is the actual cutting, shaping and polishing of the stone to allow the maximum amount of light and brilliancy to be reflected and dispersed through the gem.

Color: this can range from colorless to light yellow. The Geological Institute of America's (GIA) scale begins at D (colorless) and ends with Z (light yellow).

Clarity: this is the amount and location of any flaws, blemishes or inclusions within the stone. This scale begins with FI and runs the gamut to I3. Any inclusion can change or prevent optimal light from passing through the stone making it look less brilliant or at worst gray, and cloudy.

Carat weight: a metric carat is defined as 1/5 of a gram and in round cut diamonds, can usually be calculated by the diameter and depth of the stone. 1 carat is divided into 100 "points" which is another term your jeweler may use to describe your diamond's weight.

So now you know what to think about when choosing that perfect diamond. Shop around, ask questions and do a lot of research. Of course the shape and setting of your diamond is also extremely important and since you know your bride-to-be almost better than anyone else, keep in mind her preferences and style. Remember, she will more than likely be wearing this promise of your commitment for the rest of her life!

We received a Thank You note from Jiji and Jonas (you may remember this lovely couple's beautiful, intimate wedding back in early September). And the note reads:

Bright Lights, Big City

What do you get when you add a loving bride and groom, great homemade Mexican food, a beautiful October Saturday night, and the top two floors of a skyscraper penthouse? Another wonderful À Votre Service Events™ affair! Julie and Chris were married on the terrace before their family and friends surrounded by flowers and serenaded by a classical trio. After the ceremony, the couple led their guests down to the reception area where a local restaurant prepared delicious Mexican fare to order, along with fresh made guacamole. With full bellies, the guests returned to the top floor that had been transformed into an underwater themed private night club. With the Empire State Building in the background, all in attendance partied the night away in celebration of the newest couple in Manhattan.

Something old, Something new...

With the Hudson River as a backdrop, the Bride, wearing her mother’s gown, and Groom were married in scenic upstate NY. An Uncle performed a timeless colonial ceremony that left not a dry eye in attendance. Cocktail hour was held outdoors by the pool with roughly 170 guests lounging on the patio furniture and enjoying cocktails served by the staff. As the sun set in the distance, the wedding party moved to the custom three tiered tent that housed the dinner reception,and catering facilities. The guests partied through the night and were even serenaded by the bride and groom singing some of the final songs of the evening.
This was a weekend affair to remember!

La Grande Fête!!!

How do you transform a ceremony space for nearly 400 guests into a Caribbean themed reception hall in less than 60 minutes? Hire À Votre Service Events™, that's how! As the wedding ceremony took place, just next door the team was preparing 36 tables and decor for 400 guests to be held in the same space. The bride was radiant as she made her way down the aisle to her beaming groom.

As the newlyweds made their recessional leading the wedding party, and guests to cocktail hour, we worked to transform the ballroom for the reception all within one hour's time.

When the guests returned to the ballroom after cocktail hour, they were immersed in a Caribbean hideaway complete with tables adorned with banana leaves, and named after Haitian and Jamaican cities. The Bride and Groom were led into the ballroom by a dance troupe, but the couple showed off their own dance moves once they reached the center of the dance floor. Later in the evening, the bride's father, a famous Caribbean musician, serenaded the happy couple and guests. In lieu of standard wedding favors, the Bride, a doctor who had volunteered in the earthquake aftermath in Haiti, along with the Groom made a donation to the relief effort.

My Big Fabulous Greek Wedding!

In following the traditions of their fore fathers, the betrothed were married in a traditional Greek church surrounded by their friends and family. The Bride, wearing an EXQUISITE gown, and Groom were married by two Priests and a Koumbari who performed the Betrothal Ring and Crown ceremonies.

After sharing the Common Cup and Koufeta, the wedding party moved from the Church to the Castle for cocktail hour and reception. In a grand ballroom adorned with both the wedding cake and a special cake made by a family elder, the couple was serenaded by a Greek band who performed classic songs as well as modern hits. The money dance showered the new couple with well wishes while the guests danced in concentric circles around them. After dinner and dessert, the party continued with an after-party in a separate alcove in the castle.

A Work of Art

Under a canopy of bamboo, Levee anxiously awaited the first glimpse of his bride to be on their wedding day. Although the ceremony was still a few hours away, they wanted to take their pictures ahead of time while the light was still good. As Nneka walked up behind her groom-to-be the bridal party buzzed with anticipation. When the moment arrived, the groom nearly fell over in the beauty of his bride. Nneka was a vision in her gown!

This was the just the beginning of their special day. The ceremony was literally held within a work of art, on a stage adorned with statues that oversaw the union of these two lovers. As the sun set, guests were treated to a lavish reception indoors honoring the couple's shared African heritage. Kola nuts were passed, elders gave speeches, and the women engaged in a ceremonial dance meant to bless the marriage with good fortune and many children. All in attendance enjoyed and wished the couple well as they embarked on their new life together.

Jiji and Jonas’ wedding had all the right ingredients of a perfect wedding day! Tucked away in a lush retreat, the couple was married in an intimate gathering of family and friends. The scene was reminiscent of a postcard, as Jiji made her way down the aisle with a fountain in the background. It was an emotional and endearing experience for all involved.

The New Yorker!

This past Saturday, we coordinated a very “New York”- style wedding in the shadow of the New Yorker Hotel and the Empire State Building with an outdoor ceremony on the rooftop of the venue. Guests were treated to a 360 degree view of the city and were entertained by a live band and on-site catering.

Kara & Joseph were married in front of 130 family and friends by their Rabbi who also sang some traditional songs during their ceremony. The reception was held in the loft below the ceremony and featured New York themed tables for each guests’ table, labeled after neighborhoods that were important to the Bride and Groom. The photographer set up a novelty picture booth where guests could play dress up with fun props and give the newlyweds some great memories of their special day.

One of the highlights of the evening was the Horah that was actively participated by all in attendance. Luckily, no bride or groom were hurt during the performance! Candlelight on the windows played off of the city skyline in the background to create a truly memorable event!

Christina and Adrian are Married!!!

On a beautiful summer afternoon, under blue skies and surrounded by the lush greenery of a country club venue, our beautiful bride Christine & her groom Adrian professed their vows before family and friends gathered for this celebration of love. Nearly 200 guests were serenaded by the pianist and flutist who played on as the bride ascended the stairway toward the ceremony aisle.

After cocktail hour, the guests entered the main ballroom to take in the black and white, and purple décor of the ballroom. The live band kept the mood festive and guests' feet light as they played through the night. The couple was toasted by the maid of honor and best man and then took to the dance floor to show off their best moves. The bride and groom were beaming the entire night and didn't need any prodding from guests clicking glasses to keep planting kisses on each other.

Following dinner, the guests were literally given a treat as the back wall was opened to reveal the dessert room complete with flambé station and chocolate fountain. As the night came to a close, guests gathered their wine favors and boarded the shuttle to be ferried back to their rooms. The end of a perfect day.

Leah & Arin were enveloped by more than 200 guests as they entered the Chuppah to pledge their love for each other, with Leah positively radiant and simply stunning!

The skies were blue and clear, the mood was festive, and the bride and groom were beaming. The two Rabbis conducted the traditional ceremony recognizing the signed Ketubah, the Sheva Brachot (seven blessings) and closing with a triumphant "Mazel Tov" as the glass was broken. The newlyweds recessed from the ceremony followed by their nineteen bridesmaids and groomsmen. Guests were encouraged to enjoy the ample cocktail hour fare both indoors and outside where they could enjoy the picturesque country club setting. For the reception, guests were treated to a lively band who never let the dance floor remain empty including during the horah, which the bride and groom survived smiling all the way.

Leah and Arin’s family and friends are some of the most wonderful and gracious people I have ever met. Thank you!

4th of July Fireworks!

In an intimate ceremony, stunning bride Collin said 'I Do' to her groom, Josh. The couple's closest family and friends traveled from near and as far away as India to New Jersey, to witness a truly gorgeous couple begin their lives together.

A mouth-watering cocktail hour was held on a garden terrace. Upon entry, guests were greeted with champagne glasses to complement the abundance of fresh seafood, cheeses, vegetables and sushi. Everyone strained for a peek at the reception until finally the glass doors opened for the big reveal.

The entire space was awash with beautiful magenta lighting, centerpieces of hot pink, yellow and green orchids seemed to explode in stunning contrast with the bronze-pink linen. Heartwarming speeches gave way to the open dance floor, and no one was left behind, as the DJ touched on hits from American and Indian artists! Only taking breaks for a delicious dinner, the night continued with laughter and energy until the very last seconds. The night came to a close with touching, spiritual song led by the elders of the family. The Dsilva wedding was a true picture of heart-felt sentiment, joy, and love.

Double A Wedding!

Amanda and Anthony were married at a beautiful church in Tuckahoe, NY. After the ceremony, the gorgeous couple was whisked away to the reception hall to join their friends and family.

Upon entering the ballroom, guests were treated to a feast for the eyes, as the room was adorned rich purple tones, accented by beautiful bluish- purple hydrangeas, and lighting effects. Guests were able to sample a variety of mouth-watering entrees, as there seemed to have been an endless supply of food. Throughout the night, everyone could enjoy the montage of family photos of the bride and groom. The DJ kept just about all 200 guests on the dance floor, moving from one favorite song to another, as well as some traditional classics to celebrate the bride and groom’s Italian heritage.

If it were at all possible that someone was not full from dinner, guests could enjoy the bountiful dessert bar, complete with the wedding cake, multiple chocolate fountains, Italian ice, and variety of pastries to include cannoli, Napoleon, Tri-color cookies, zepollis, chocolate dipped strawberries, Tiramisu, and so on!

Let Them Eat Cake!

Inside a glass conservatory, amid white peonies and pink roses, sweethearts Jen and Phil professed their love and sealed their wedding vows before family and guests. The stunning bride entered thru majestic double doors while the groom beamed from the altar. Etta James’ “At Last” was chosen as the couples’ first dance beginning a night of celebration.

The reception was anchored by a full 13-piece band that belted out the latest hits as well as beloved classics. The room shimmered in Swarovski crystals, complimented with luscious florals and topped by a wedding cake fit for royalty. Five tiers and draped in beautiful, edible flowers that you had to look closely to ensure that they weren’t the real thing. Guests made full use of the massive ballroom meandering from room to room enjoying the view, the professional cigar roller and the two dessert rooms full of treats.

At the end of the night, guests were chauffeured back to their rooms in a shuttle bus, while the bridal party enjoyed a stretch limousine. The bride and groom were treated to a Rolls Royce to launch them down lover’s lane together.

I must say “hello” to the phenomenal Keasha from TLC’s “Say Yes to the Dress”, who was among the couple's guest list.

Father of the Bride 2010!

In a scene worthy of classic Hollywood, Natasha, adorned in a stunning gown, entered the beautiful church and strode down the aisle to meet her true love, Stephen. The couple recited their vows while I am sure that the bride’s parents reminisced of their wedding in this same chapel. After the ceremony, the newlyweds and their guests retired to the comforts of the Bride’s Parents’ home. However, they would not recognize the house that they had left the day before because it had been transformed into an opulent wedding venue fashioned with a classic Hollywood theme. Valets greeted each guest under an arch of rose pomanders. The scene would remind anyone in attendance of the elegant red carpet entrances of past Academy Awards ceremonies, complete with portraits of iconic actors and actresses in lieu of table numbers for each guests’ table.

Attendees were met with flutes of champagne and custom cocktails as they mingled amongst a lawn of roses and flowing green linens. The reception was held within tents enclosed with sheer white fabric that welcomed guests to magnificent towers of red and white flowers that complimented the deep red textured table linens. Candles of all sizes reflected light off of beautiful china, making a scene so romantic that it seemed suitable for filming.

After a mouthwatering dinner, the full band wound up the crowd beside a dance-floor illuminated by crystal chandeliers and a glowing swimming pool enclosed inside one of the tents. Guests satiated their sweet tooth with peanut butter sundaes and relaxed with hand rolled cigars in the 'Bermuda room'. All good evenings must come to an end, but luckily, there were luxury buses available to ferry everyone safely back to their hotel rooms. This Platinum Wedding is the perfect beginning of Natasha & Steve’s 'happily ever after'.

Wedding Across the Pond!

Although the lovely couple hailed from jolly ol' England, Adele and Ben chose to be wedded right here in the States on May 22, 2010. Pennsylvania to be specific. The location was a picturesque traditional B&B tucked into the side of a hill and surrounded by a canopy of huge trees.

The intimate gathering shared the ceremony and reception with the bride and groom and their families all within the confines of the estate. Only the bride and the mother of the groom would have been able to distinguish him from his twin brother, the best man. Luckily for the rest of us, they were clothed in complementary colors.

As a trio of musicians provided the ambiance, the bride was escorted down the aisle to her beaming groom. Pursuant with our proprietary agreement with Mother Nature, the rain showers predicted for the day held off until just after the bride completed her recessional into the mansion. The short spring shower allowed the guests to digest the beautiful ceremony while our team implemented our Weather Plan B, moving the cocktail hour and reception from outside to inside. Surrounded by loving family and friends and good cheer, the couple danced away the night with their guests and slowly, one by one, they all retired upstairs to their rooms on the premises.

Coming to America!

As the sunset on May 21st, bride Mafudia made her way down the aisle to meet her groom Khalil. Witnesses gathered from all over the globe ranging from Texas, Canada, Germany and Africa to see the couple come together as one. In honor of the newlyweds, guests donned their ceremonial garb, which played off the natural earth tones of the main ballroom. Adorning the perimeter of the main ballroom, guests could delight in the display of African Art, currently on loan to the hotel.

Guests then entered the reception that was truly a step into paradise. Tables of red satin were accented with towers of tall banana leaves and greenery, while the hotel dinner was complimented by traditional African fare. Guests were entertained by modern dance performances while enjoying the well wishes of friends and family. All in attendance danced the night away with a truly happy bride & groom. A true example of how love brings everyone together!

Wedding Room With A View!

The April 17 wedding of Carrie and Robert was the envy of any Manhattan bride. White cherry blossoms framed the delighted couple as they said their vows under a pergola overlooking the NYC skyline. Almost to perfection, the sun set behind the famous view as the groom lifted his bride to share their first kiss as husband & wife.

Guests were then welcomed to a truly chic cocktail hour complete with a mouth watering raw bar, gourmet hors d’ouerves, hand-rolled sushi and signature blue cocktails. An eccentric guitar accompanied the hum of well wishers for the bride and groom.

As cocktail hour came to a close, the curtains were pulled back to reveal a reception area that triggered an immediate applause. It was certainly a sight to be see! The room was aglow in a cool blue complimented by towering centerpieces of white cherry blossoms and crystals. The room’s abundant windows allowed a stunning view of the luminous NYC skyline. Guests were also free to relax in a white mod lounge complete with white leather couches, blue LED tables and low candlelight. Phenomenal pairing of DJ and lighting tech kept guests on the dance floor as they celebrated between each delectable entrée.

The night wrapped up as the couple revealed an all blue candy bar complete with personalized boxes. Guest filled their goody bags and satisfied their sweet tooth in tribute to a truly happy couple. As the music faded each guest captured one last glance of the beautiful décor, legendary skyline, and a radiating Bride & Groom.

Spring has sprung, and love is in the air…especially for our beautiful couple Jessica and LJ!

Friday morning dawned on our beautiful bride, ecstatic with jitters to finally marry her charming fiancé. In a moment reminiscent of a modern day Romeo & Juliet, nearly 200 guests sighed as the stunning bride appeared above the gallery on a flowered balcony. The groom beamed as he caught sight of her for the first time. Everyone watched in awe as our beautiful bride elegantly descended the staircase to walk down the aisle lined with yellow Callas and candles.

After heartfelt "I Do's", the guests crossed the venue terrace to enter an exquisite cocktail hour packed with live musicians, mouth-watering hors d’oeuvres, and white-glove service. As the sun set, the doors to the reception opened to reveal a deep purple ballroom complemented with rich yellows, golds, and greens. Jaws dropped to see the beautiful decor: towering floral centerpieces, iridescent linens, gold china, and a cake fit only for a King & Queen. After dinner guests could indulge in a dessert bar and in cigars hand-rolled to order. But no wedding is complete without the infectious love of family, friends, and of course, the bride & groom dancing the night away. Alas, all good things must come to an end, the festivities came to a close with an impromptu rap concert with L J and his NFL buddies.

Hello wonderful readers!

Yesterday, we had a most amazing time at a bridal showcase, at the beautiful Highlawn Pavilion. First, we must say a huge "thank you" to the team, who treat us like no other every time we visit and work there. We are truly fortunate to have them as not only colleagues, but as friends.

For this showcase, our table was a display of contemporary, modern design, featuring the colors black, white, and yellow (to celebrate Spring)!

As engagement season starts to wrap up you may have a shiny new ring to display, but what about your other half?

It’s the trend that’s been hitting the pages of The Times, NY Daily news, and even ABC News: The MENgagement ring. Contrary to the traditional one-ring per couple, many love-birds are changing their minds.

“He actually brought up the idea,” confessed bride-to-be Caitlin. “Dean and I both have a career in international business which requires us to travel often. Once engaged, I loved the feeling of being able to look down at my ring and be reaffirmed of our love and commitment even though we were miles apart.” That connection is what started the conversation. “We began to realize that the symbol of one belonging to the other is outdated. Now we’re symbolizing the love we share and our intent to revere that love for the rest of our lives.”

Couple psychotherapist , Paula Hall, gave her input on the MENgagement fad. “I can certainly see positives in this,” she says. “It’s clearly symbolic, but what it potentially does is demonstrate a shared commitment to the process and journey of being a couple at an earlier stage. Showing mutual commitment is important, and at the moment it can be a one-sided thing."

So what is a MENgagement ring? Toss out all your traditional ideas of a feminine diamond ring. MENgagement rings are often more subtle and understated; though in true engagement ring fashion… there has to be some bling! The fun of a MENgagement ring is that it doesn’t necessarily mean diamonds. Think sapphires, rubies, or emeralds. You can even ditch the regular gold of silver for colored titanium. Or take traditional metals and go flat or textured, single or two tone. It truly is up to your fiancé's taste.

Clearly, the rising trend is not for every couple, but Caitlin & Dean seem to be happy with their decision. I think Dean put it perfectly when he said, “I wanted a ring because we’re in this together, forever.”

Whether you’re thinking classic, modern, romantic, or trendy for your next event there is a simple tool that can enhance the mood: color. Though there is no precise universal emotional reaction to certain colors, neuroscientists have been using for MRI to study the relation of color and emotion for years. By simply looking at what part of the brain is stimulated by a color we can dive into the deep connection between color and our mood.

Reds – Are probably the most obvious to analyze. Reds represent strong and intense emotions. This characteristic most likely derives from the historical use of red as a symbol of war, danger, and power. In the evolution of décor since then, red has come to represent passion, desire and love. Psychological research has even proven subtle physical effects of red; increase in blood pressure, respiration, and metabolism. What most determines the specific emotional relationship with red is its hue:

Purples- the comfort of blue + the spark of red. Purple is synonymous with royalty, luxury, and magic. People exposed to purple often feel reflective, meditative and spiritual. Purple can also be incredibly romantic (perhaps deriving from its feminine feel)

• Light purples feel dreamy, feminine, and tranquil

• Deep/royal purples feel regal and luxurious

Black- is chic, formal, elegant, and essentially speaks for itself. It eludes a sense of mystery but unfortunately is most commonly used depressingly (i.e- death, grief, unluckiness). Selecting black is a commitment but when executed correctly is a unique and memorable choice. Selecting Black as a contrast will guarantee that every color will pop. Want the power of black but still craving color? Try your favorite color in a rich tone.

White- Feels pure, clean, and fresh. White is often used to represent new beginnings (how fitting). An overwhelming majority of people exposed to white have a positive reaction. Using white can portray a modern simplicity or a romantic lightness. White and Ivory are the most used complimentary color in an event pallet. Mix the feel of white with great color in a pastel tone.

Today's topic is on Budget Planning/ Analysis: How to estimate a "realistic" wedding budget

In order to determine a "realistic" wedding budget, one of the first areas a couple may want to focus on is revising their guest list/ guest count. In the state of New Jersey or New York, one can expect to spend roughly an average of $100.00 per person, and in most cases, this number does not include tax and gratuity, which depending on the state, and charges can be an additional estimated 25% of the final bill.

With this in mind, for example, with a guest list of 100 at $100 per person, with New Jersey state tax of 7%, plus 18% gratuity, the final bill minus other fees (valet, Maitre D', etc) will be $12,500.00.

Although it is not be advised to spend more than 40% of the wedding budget on reception venue, food, and beverage, from my experience couples spend on average 45%-50% of their wedding budget in this area depending on their guest list, the time of year, and day of the week they choose.

Should you decide to work the other way around, one can use the example above of $100 and up per person to determine how much money they may want to set aside, keeping in mind that the wedding budget is not only the venue, food, and beverage, but photography, videography, entertainment, decor, wedding apparel, accommodation, transportation, favors, etc.

Lastly, to recap, reviewing one's guest's list is an important factor to help determine the overall wedding budget. Should you have a number in mind you would like to work with, determining the price per person you must not exceed can help you stay within your desired wedding budget.

Katie and Will are Married!

Happy Monday Everyone,

Once again, our proprietary relationship with Mother Nature has paid dividends!! On October 3, 09, the forecast was bleak, the crowd was concerned, there was mutiny in the musical ranks... But the show must go on, and as our bride made her way towards the intimate beach wedding that she dreamed about, the clouds parted, the sky changed from grey to blue, and another beautiful AVS Events wedding is in the books.

Katie and Will were center stage at this beautiful beach wedding on the NJ shoreline. The loving couples' smiles and laughter were on full display for all of their guests. After the ceremony they joined their guests at the al fresca cocktail hour on the boardwalk. The reception was held indoors and the friends and family in attendance danced the night away to the sounds of the live band and singers.

Big Texas Wedding, New Jersey Style!

Happy Thursday Everyone,

Once again, I am late with the postings on our blog. As you can imagine, with Wedding season in full swing, we have been quite busy not only taking care of our Brides, but also with bookings for next season.

Anway, I would like to Congratulate our remarkable couple Chelle and Joseph!

Back in January, we were contacted by the groom to assist him and his Bride-to-be with the planning process, and here are today, they are married on September 26, 09! (and yes, once again I found myself planning an entire wedding from long distance; thank goodness for all the wonderful technologies on hand).

Michelle (affectionately known as Chelle) and Joseph are true sweethearts who envisioned a fully immersive day for their friends and family. The ceremony and reception was held at the beautiful historic park in Belleville, NJ. Guests were treated to an intimate ceremony and then feasted at the cocktail hour while being serenaded by a classic musical trio.

In the spacious main ballroom, all invited could dance off the calories and celebrate the newlyweds. Just when you think it couldn't get better, after the reception, guests were invited to the scenic second venue in West Orange, NJ for an afer-party in their authentic wine cellar.

Wedding at Oheka Castle!!

Happy Labor Day!!

This past Friday (8/28), one of our loving couples exchanged their vows in the majestic Oheka Castle in Huntington, NY. Surrounded by family and friends, and sheltered from the rain outside, the ceremony was held inside the chapel located within the spacious castle followed by the reception in the expansive ball room. Adorned in enormous floral arrangements and serenaded by a multitude of musicians, each guest was pulled into the bride and grooms fantasy wedding theme. Along with all of the visual and aural accouterments, there were a plethora of various foods to taste and enjoy from the cocktail-hour hors d'oeuvres to the many desserts on following the reception.

I must thank my oh-so-awesome team once more for a job that was absolute perfection! Thank you.

Happy Monday Everyone,

This past Saturday, it rained off an on the whole day, however, for our latest clients, the rains abated just long enough for this loving couple to tie the knot at the Rutgers Gardens in New Brunswick, NJ. Sean and Addie recited their vows in an intimate ceremony that was witnessed by over 150 family and friends.

The wedding reception was held at the newly minted Heldrich Hotel in downtown New Brunswick. The Bride and Groom chose a retro theme for their wedding and the venue obliged with the design of their ballroom utilizing the sharp lines and contrasts inherent in cinema of the 50s and 60s. The Newlyweds and their families all embrace their artistic sides. The bride’s brother serenaded the new couple with an original song and guitar solo and many of the aspects of the décor were original artistic pieces including the customized cake topper and envelope gift box. There were also some custom moves on display on the dance floor as the party went into overtime and the guests couldn’t get enough of the great music and food.

Although, it appeared from the onset that this wedding may have been rained out, it turned out to be one of the most fun and innovative weddings that we have done this year. Congratulations to Addie and Sean!!

Happy Monday Everyone,

All though the 4th of July had passed, this beautiful couple saved the real fireworks for their wedding day. In a grand display of old and new, current US Army soldiers were hand in hand with member s of the Rhode Island Militia in celebrating the union of this husband and wife. The wedding reception took place in scenic Rye Brook and featured the ceremonial firing of an authentic cannon supervised by the militia. Surrounded by family and friends, the grey skies parted revealing a beautiful blue sky as the newlyweds exchanged their vows and danced the night away thanks to a great DJ and professional lighting in the main ballroom.

As you can imagine, everyone had a blast. Ingredients for a memorable wedding: Loving family, great food, good music, inviting atmosphere, stunning décor and the union of two sweethearts who have found each other in love and matrimony. The ceremony was conducted at the picturesque Church of the Holy Spirit in Stamford, CT, followed by the reception at the expansive Doral Arrowwood Hotel located in Rye Brook, NY. Tammy and Tony are Married!!!!!!!!!!! Congratulations to them both!!!

This past Saturday, I had the pleasure of coordinating this couple's amazing wedding. Tammy has been planning this spectacular bash for over a year, and it was well worth every effort!

I must say a huge "thank you" to my wonderful team, and thanks to some of the most professional, hard-working, and dedicated vendors who made it all happen.

Hong Kong by way of New Jersey continues...

Hello Everyone,

Now that a few weeks have passed, I would like to look back and revisit the May 2, 2009 wedding of our most wonderful clients, Denise and Henry from Hong Kong. This couple had a traditional Chinese Wedding to including a Tea Ceremony, honoring their elders before their banquet.

First off, I would like to thank the wonderful team of vendors who worked with me to make this day possible. Special thanks to Jorge Garcia (Jorge Garcia Photography), Janice and Mike Celeste (Celeste Studios), and Lisa Miller for the catering service.

For this wedding, we at À Votre Service Events not only took care of coordinating all wedding details, but we also took care of all floral arrangements from the personal flowers to the towing 6-7ft Cherry Blossom centerpieces.

Fantastic NAWBO-CJ Board Meeting...

Happy Friday,

Today was a wonderful day of networking, learning, just a wonderful day hanging out with my fellow Board members of the Central New Jersey Chapter of the National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO-CJ).

This national association is made up of over 9,000 dynamic women business owners from all walks of life. Because NAWBO is so diverse, it is networking, nurturing, and support for other business owners at its best!
While this non-profit organization is a great resource for start-ups, it also consist of women business owners whose companies generate millions in Capital yearly! This organization supports emerging entrepreneurs' development through various programs and initiatives.

Having joined this organization, I am seeing first hand what women are capable of. When we put our heads together with common purpose towards personal growth, we can also serve as a great resource and support system for one another.

In this time of economic uncertainty, the members of the Board, as well as all NAWBO-CJ members, provide me with a sense of optimism and excitement about the future!

Happy Mother's Day!

Today, I would like to introduce the Lovely Tammy, and her oh-so-kind Fiance Tony. A little while back, I received another wonderful surprise in the mail, the couple's save-the-date shown above.

A little about Tammy (affectionately known as Tam)... I still remember the very first day Tam and I met. She and I had been communicating for a while over the telephone, discussing her wedding plans. A few weeks later, finally the day came when Tammy and I met in person. What never left me was the warmth with which Tammy greeted me. It felt like we had been friends for years. At that moment, it was clear what a lovely, and generous soul Tammy is, and I was all the more excited about her wedding.

Tammy and Tony are a beautiful example of the coming together of family and culture. For her wedding colors, Tammy chose deep red, orange, copper tones, with hints of ivory. For their venue, the couple chose a swank Supper Club. A Flamenco guitarist will jazz up the ceremony; Nick Russo and band will perform for the cocktail hour, and a phenomenal bilingual DJ to round out the evening. For ambiance, the couple envision something casual yet super chic.

Tammy and Tony's wedding is only 7 weeks away, and what a party their affair is going to be!

I feel fortunate that we at Á Votre Service Events were chosen to bear witness to this union!

Yesterday, I coordinated a beautiful wedding, for a most amazing couple from Hong Kong! and today, they are already on a plane back to Hong Kong. What a crazy busy work week, but well worth every effort.

Meet Addie and Sean

Happy Tuesday,

It has been a while, and this post is long overdue. About three weeks ago, I had the honor and pleasure of receiving a beautiful Save-the-date card from my clients Addie and Sean who are getting married this coming fall.

I was wowed by the simple gesture of receiving a card, and so moved that Addie and Sean were so thoughtful to have included me as part of their mailing list.

Their wedding photographer Kella Macphee was very gracious to provide me a photographed copy of the save-the-date above.

Addie designed and printed her cards herself, and it is no question that she is a very talented!

When I asked about her vision for her wedding, Addie was thoughtful, and could not find the words to describe what she has in mind. But in listening to her a bit more, it was clear to me that this couple's wedding is going to be very cool, laid-back feel, and vintage chic!

As you will see, that vision is captured beautifully in the Save-the-date!

I can hardly wait for their Big Day. Thanks again Addie and Sean :-)

Hello Wonderful People...

On Saturday 12/20/08, I had the honor and privilege of accompanying one most special client to a taping on TLC's hit show "Say Yes to the Dress" at Kleinfeld in NYC!

Before continuing, just a few words about my client Kate... she is not just beautiful, but she truly exudes beauty inside and out. Kate is kind, loving, and one of the most generous soul one should be so lucky to meet. Yesterday, I had the pleasure of meeting some of the ladies from Kate's family, friends/bridal party, and her Mother and Sister-in-law, who are simply fantastic people to be around.

What a fabulous experience! and yes, Kate "said yes to a dress" which will be absolutely perfect and fitting for her wedding at Oheka Castle next year.

It took me a while to come back, as I've been very making preparations to attend the Unveiled Bridal show on Sunday, September 14 in Westchester County, NY.

This show is the creme de la creme of bridal shows. Two years ago, I attended this fabulous show as a bride-to-be... it was just exquisite! I met my caterer, ceremony musicians, and found my ceremony & reception site all through participating vendors!
